Indulge a Little this Pride with the OPI Sisters

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence believe that while legal advances towards equality will have a gradual trickle down effect in the wider community towards acceptance for GLBTI’s, we still wish to continue to work at a grassroots level to build understanding and goodwill.

To this goal for Pride 2010, we’re holding an ecumenical, non-denominational prayer gathering and blessing to celebrate the canonisation of Australia’s first Catholic Saint, Mary MacKillop. We’ll be praying to Saint Mary for a future of equal spiritual status for all people within organised religions. We especially would like to invite Catholic gays and lesbians to join us.

The event will be held at the Abbey of the Black Swan, Perth City at 9am on Sunday, October 17. Email us at opi.perth@y7mail.com for address details and to RSVP for catering purposes – morning tea of Mother Gretta’s Pumpkin and Ginger scones and cream sherry will be served.

The Sisters will also be attending Fairday, in our usual glamorous style, so please introduce yourself and say hello. We’ll also be marching in the Parade and attending other Pride events.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are an international order of activists, working in the areas of human rights affecting the queer community. We recruit. If you feel a vocation coming on, please contact us at the above email address.

Happy Pride and Blessing from the Holy Bitch Mother Dingo.
