Years and Years Singer: I'm gay and I'm singing about my boyfriends

Olly AlexanderOlly Alexander, the lead singer of British band Years and Years has confirmed that he’s gay.

“I’m gay and I’m singing about my boyfriends.”

Alexander made the declarative statement in an interview with  Downtowner.

The singer noted that he’d never made a secret about his sexuality but it has only been recently that interviewers have asked him about it.

Alexander first came to prominence as an actor appearing in the final series of TV shows ‘Skins’ and in feature films including ‘Bright Star’ and ‘God Help the Girl’.

Alongside his acting career Alexander has also developed a musical career with Years and Years releasing their first single in 2013. The band are current enjoying chart success with their sixth single ‘King’ which is currently in the Australian iTunes Top 10.

Years and Years will release their debut album ‘Communion’ in June.
