South Carolina’s Senate have been presented with a bill that specifically targets trans people’s bathroom use in the state.

The bill known as S. 1203 was introduced by State Senator Lee Bright, who says the law would mirror North Carolina’s position on LGBT rights.

“Multiple occupancy bathroom and changing facilities located on public property, including but not limited to property owned by the state, its authorities, commissions, departments, committees or agencies, or any political subdivision of the State, shall be designated for and only used by a person based on biological sex,” the bill reads.

The law would also take aim at South Carolina students. “Local school boards shall require every multiple occupancy bathroom or changing facility that is designated for student use to be designated for and used only by students based on their biological sex.”

Senator Bright says he has had enough of negative reaction North Carolina has received since passing their similar law.

“I’ve about had enough,” Bright said.

“Years ago we kept talking about tolerance, tolerance and tolerance. And now they want men who claim to be women to be able to go into bathrooms with children. And you got corporations who say this is OK.”

Bright also named corporations who had withdrawn support for the state of North Carolina in light of the law, stating that “the silent majority is watching”.

PayPal recently cancelled plans for a USD $3.6 million expansion in North Carolina.

“PayPal has shown its support for pedophiles by wanting them to go into bathrooms.”

South Carolina’s Governor Nikki Haley has told media that her state does not need anti-trans laws.

“When I look at South Carolina, we look at our situations, we’re not hearing of anybody’s religious liberties that are being violated, and we’re again not hearing any citizens that feel like they’re being violated in terms of freedoms.”
