Electric Fields are here to jolt Perth Festival Chevron Gardens to life

Perth Festival is almost here, and as artists, musicians and performers flock to Perth, newcomers on the block are ready to stun. One anticipated performance at Chevron Gardens is the electrifying Electric Fields, a collaboration between vocalist Zaachariaha Fielding and producer Michael Ross, who together produce music self-described as combining modern electric-soul music with ancient indigenous culture. Around the corner from the duo’s performance, OUTInPerth spoke to Zacchariaha about the music, their process and what it means to them.

“It’s nice to … spread the love of our music and to share our art. I get a bit of a thrill out of touring because it’s a precious moment of sharing your art.” Zacchariaha shared, showing just how much the duo enjoy sharing their music with the world; whilst also revealing how it came to be what it is today.

“It’s evolving – most of our music and vision comes from internalness of growth – Michael and i both have our own stories, experiences, and truths, and that (comes) through our music… we include our advice and a lot of praise in our music, to honour yourself, and how much you’re worth.”

Speaking on their way of performing, Zacchariaha also explored the connection between artist and music. “I have a very particular way of performing. I feel like when I’m performing I am a vessel of our music. I hope that people when they see us perform that they get a sense of themselves and a feeling that they are worth it. There’s a lot of testimony and meaning to the style of our performance and I want people to take away a positive picture of themselves and a piece f themselves that they mean something.”

Zacchariaha also revealed what the duo’s future plans would be. “Just heaps of touring, and the process of (making) our album. I’m looking forward to taking it step by step. Once we release it I’ll be happy. Perthians will love it – I hope.” Zacchariaha obliged, whilst also making it clear that they wouldn’t spoil anything for the audience at their Perth Festival peformance.

Electric Fields is performing at Perth Festival’s Opening Night on February 9th at Chevron Gardens. Tickets are available here.
