Joe Jonas tried to convince the singer to head to his team by dialing up his brother on Facetime, but Delta and Kelly also made passionate pleas to the young singer.

Before selecting a coach Nathan said he’d made another important decision. He called Mitchell, his partner of six years, to the stage and got down on one knee.

The romantic gesture got the crowd on their feet and screams of delight from the coaches.

Kelly’s offer to sing at their wedding, and Joe’s Facetime with his brother didn’t help sway the singer though, he picked Delta Goodrem to be his coach.

It’s not the first time Nathan has made his mark on reality television. Back in 2009, when he was just seventeen, he had a memorable apprearance on Australian Idol.

Judge Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickinson told Nathan he should “embrace his campness”, which was akward because at the time he was in a relationship with his longtime girlfriend. Brake has spoken of the incident saying it was difficult at the time.

Brake made it to the top four in Australian Idol before being eliminated. Stan Walker went on to win the competition.

See how Nathan has changed over the last decade.
