Eminem criticised for using anti-gay slur on his new album

Eminem surprised fans yesterday by releasing a surprise album Kamikaze, but he’s been criticised for continuing to use an anti-gay slur in his raps.

On the diss track Fall Eminem calls fellow rapper Tyler the Creator a faggot.

“Tyler create nothing, I see why you called yourself a faggot, bitch/It’s not just ‘cause you lack attention/It’s ‘cause you worship D12’s balls, you’re sac-rilegious/If you’re gonna critique me, you better at least be as good or better.” Eminem says on the tune.

The feud appears to stem from comments Tyler the Creator made about Eminem’s previous album. However the Odd Future music maker has himself previously been criticised for using the slur himself.

Later he was supportive of band mate Frank Ocean when he opened up about having a same-sex relationship in the past. Fans have also interpreted lyrics on Tyler the Creator’s track Flower as an indication that he too is bisexual or gay.

Influential radio DJ Charlemagne Tha God also gets dissed by Eminem on the track, but he’s said he’s glad to get a mention on an Eminem tune.

Speaking to Esquire Charlemagne said he didn’t think Eminem cares if he upsets LGBTIQ+ people.

“I’m not a member of the LGBT community. I would love to hear how a hip-hop fan who’s a member of the LGBT community reacts to this line, because I can’t tell them not to be offended. Eminem has to understand when he calls Tyler that he’s not just throwing a shot at Tyler, he’s throwing a shot at millions of gay people around the globe. But I don’t think he cares.” Charlemagne said.
