Anti-Marriage equality county clerk Kim Davis loses election

Kim Davis, the country clerk who chose to be jailed rather than issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, has lost her job after she failed to be re-elected.

Davis was jailed for six days in 2015 after she refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Davis said her personal beliefs did not recognise same-sex marriage despite the US Supreme Court ruling the same-sex couples had the right to marry.

The country clerk from Kentucky lost her position when she failed to gain enough votes in Tuesday’s election. Democrat Elwood Caudill Jr received more votes and Davis conceded that he was the victor.
