Now this is exciting! Melbourne based Tim Brady has launched a 3D gallery which is selling some of the most prolific artists in Australia. The likes of Beastman, Geist, Paul Ikin, Ralf Kempken, Kate Massola, Two One and Bail are some of the artists who appear within the walls of this virtual gallery. You simply navigate using your arrow keys and can click on work to get a detailed view of it. The space even comes complete with red dots if you, or somebody else, decides to buy a work. You can even see how art would look against your own colour schemes or walls. POETRY FOR THE MASSES
It’s time to limber up that oesophagus because the Perth Poetry Club is all set to launch itself across the white hot lines you have squirreled away in your notebooks and journals. For from this month hostesses Helen Child and Janet Jackson are serving up a quick nip of poetical treats over at The Court Hotel. This new weekly event brings together the best poetic voices this fair city has to offer, starting with Allan Boyd reading on April 4 followed by Kevin Gillam on April 11. WHEN I GROW UP…!
It’s time again for the Art Gallery of WA to proudly present Year 12 Perspectives, a veritable who’s who of upcoming and emerging talent as the best of the best are brought together. This show will feature 56 works selected from across the state. There will also be 17 works from young Japanese artists appearing in the exhibition as part of a cultural exchange program. Overall, this show is a promise of things to come, a clear definitive finger on the pulse of what’s hot and who to watch out for, such as Ellie Wilson (pictured). If ever there was a place designed for such an exuberant outburst of street theatre it is Fremantle. Get down there to see The Blackstreet Boyz, Jaruda the Magic of India plus brother and sister circus duo The Pitts, along with all manner of quirky, strange and death-defying acts from every corner of the world. And it all converges on our fair port city for an unforgettable weekend. The Arterial Collective are back with another brand spanking exhibition sure to titillate. The likes of Ali J, Sean Morris, David Egan and THNK – plus loads of other hip and happening young artists – will be exhibiting as part of this funky little show which takes place at 214 William Street in Northbridge on Wednesday April 15 and runs until May 1. And on opening night the party continues down the road at The Ellington where you can pick yourself up a copy of the new Arterial Magazine. I’VE SEEN THE FUTURE
As part of the new Monsters and Maidens season at The Blue Room get ready to see A View of Concrete, a highly anticipated show written by award winning writer Gareth Ellis. Here, the world is a sprawling metropolis where trees no longer exist. In an attempt to survive in this suffocating reality Billy and James create all-encompassing and self-destructive fantasies. Given that this show took out the Wal Cherry Award for new playwriting and is by Allan Girod, A View of Concrete should be listed on your ‘what not to miss’. Clap your hands and stomp your feet, get ready to move to a different beat. The award winning show that is Stomp returns to the Burswood Entertainment Complex for another spellbinding short little season, one which promises to be funnier, fresher and faster. There are new tools added to the mix to create more percussive sounds while new routines add to the exhilaration and overall heart pounding excitement that is this show.
