Bananarama release first new music in a decade

British duo Bananarama have released their first new music in more than a decade. The new album from Sara and Keren will be titled In Stereo and will be released on 19th April.

The new album is produced by Richard X who has previously created hits for Kelis, Rachel Stevens, Annie, Sam Sparro, Erasure, Humag League and Sugarbabes.

Most of the tracks on the album are new compositions created by the band and writer Ian Masterson, but there’s also one cover version. Opening track Love in Stereo was previously recorded by Mutya, Keisha, Siobhan – the trio featuring the former members of the Sugarbabes.

The first single Dance Music is out now.

The album will be the eleventh in the band’s long career. Their first record came out in 1983, and their most recent album was 2009’s Viva.

Bananarama will kick off their national tour of Australia at the Crown Theatre in Perth next month. They’ll also be heading to Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.  They’ve just upgraded their Adelaide show to a bigger venue to allow more people to join the party.

The band recently had an acclaimed tour of the UK and the USA which saw Keren Woodward and Sara Dallin reunited with original member Siobhan Fahey. That series of live shows resulted in their latest DVD and album Live at the Eventim Hammersmith Apollo. The band are now back to regular line-up of Keren and Sara.

Bananarama last played a show in Perth in 2016, and fans – who knew all their dance routines – had a great time at the show which had an amazing party vibe.

Joining Bananarama on the tour will be 80’s pop singer Tiffany, and 90’s star Amber. Tiffany scored a huge hit with her songs I Think We’re Alone Now and Could’ve Been. More recently Australian audiences have gotten to know her intimately as a contestant on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

Amber is best known This is Your Night, Sexual (Li Da Di) and the disco anthem If You Could Read My Mind. Amber was last in Perth for Dance Mania back in 2016. Amber chatted to OUTinPerth had shared her memories of recording the theme song to the film 54 and what it was like writing a song for Cher.
