Bears Gear up for Pride

What’s happening with the Bears during the Pride Festival this year? With the time for hibernating now over, it’s all go for the guys here. But first just a little about us for those of you that haven’t heard or experienced what has become the Bears Perth phenomenon.

Bears Perth is a social club for men with body and/or facial hair and their admirers. Bears are just regular blokes with membership being available to men of any build, any level of hairiness and any age above 18. You don’t have to be big, hairy or bearded to be welcome!

We now run more than 35 events annually which include our annual festival BEARWEST in March 2011. Our licensed ‘Den Nights’ at Loton Park Tennis Club are on the second Saturday & fourth Friday of each month from 9pm till late.

The Den Nights often have a theme, be it our Anzac Tribute Uniform night in April; a Leather night in June plus many more. We encourage the guys to take part by having prizes for the best dressed, door prizes, raffles & our ‘Chase the Bear’ jackpot all adding to the night’s fun.

Sunday Socials are held on the second Sunday of each month, which may include a BBQ pool party at a member’s residence; a car rally; a train trip or an afternoon of tenpin bowling depending on the season.

For the Pride Festival this year, we are holding a Fair Day Round-Up Den Night on Saturday October 9 from 9pm till late. Then Friday October 22 is our ‘Octobearfest’ Party Den Night. This is our largest annual event and this year we are having Dj NRK plus a dance space that will prove Bears do dance. (Refer to Calendar page Advertisement).

Now you may remember at last year’s parade a magnificent sleuth of Roman Bears marching their way through Northbridge. This year it’s going to be hard to out do that, however we have come up with a concept on the theme that we believe will be equally as entertaining.

So on behalf of Bears Perth, I’d like to wish you all a Happy Pride!
