Now in it’s second year, DANCEout pits same-sex dance partners of varied skill levels against one another to test their skills and put on a fabulous show for the audience. Terry from OUTdance tells us competitors are coming from across the country to show off their talents.

“We are having local same-sex dance couples as well as, to date, five dancers coming across from New South Wales,” Terry told OUTinPerth.

Same-sex dance competitions, such as the Australian Same-Sex Dancesport Championship, have been running for years in other states for many years. Terry says it’s fabulous that Perth is now a part of that annual calendar of events.

“We’re really pleased and proud that we’ve made a presence last year and that we’ve been able to repeat it again this year and we’re certainly look at it being an annual event.”

The event will be filled with activities throughout the day, with opportunities for the audience to hit the dance floor and give it a go.

“We’ll be having absolute novices and beginner dancers, right the way through to A grade dancers competing across the three streams of dancing and that’s standard ballroom (waltzes and foxtrots), new vogue dances through to Latin. There will also be some social dancing opportunities for members of the public,” Terry said.

Adam Penn and the fabulous Veronica Jean Jones will be acting as MC’s throughout the event.

DANCEout is at Fremantle Town Hall, Saturday 10th September from 10am – 4:30pm. Tickets available from Trybooking. For more information, head to outdance.com.au
