Didier Theron – Two Works

STRUT dancers Aimee Smith and Sue Peacock

STRUT dance is thrilled to be hosting acclaimed French choreographer, Didier Théron for a three-week creative development residency in Perth. Over the last couple of weeks Didier has been working with some of Perth’s leading contemporary dancers to recreate his piece, The Tenants.

The work revolves around concepts of family and community and the tensions underlying both. At times brusquely physical, at others lightly humorous, this interpretation of Théron’s work is an intriguing reflection on relationships. The Tenants will be interpreted by Sete Tele, Claudia Alessi, Matthew Morris, Aimee Smith and Sue Peacock.

Théron will also perform his solo, Self-Portrait Raskolnikov. This piece is based on the main character of Dostoyevsky’s novel, Crime and Punishment.

Come to the PICA for a rare opportunity to see these bold and provocative performances.

  • Performances: Saturday, 26th of May at 8pm and Sunday, 27th of May at 6pm. The Sunday performance has already sold out, but tickets are still available for Saturday.
  • The Sunday performance will be followed by an informal discussion at the PICA Bar with Théron and the dancers.
  • Bookings are essential. For tickets call PICA on 9228-6300 or email info@pica.org.au.
  • Tickets are $22 full or $16 concession (STRUT, PICA, Ausdance, Alliance Française govt. concession)
