The Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 12, 14 and 16 May at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria.
This year Australia is being represented by Delta Goodrem with her song Eclipse. Australia will be in the second semi-final and will perform eleventh in a field of 15 participants. Altogether 35 countries are in the competition.

Delta’s song is one of the entries predicted to do well at this year’s event, but not the favourite. Bookmakers currently have Eclipse as the fifth in line to win, but Finland’s Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkoen are the runaway favourites with their tune Liekinheitin.
Finland has only one the competition on one occasion in 2006 heavy mental band Lordi took home the trophy. Australia has now be in the competition for over a decade, our best result came with Dami Im and Sounds of Silence, which came second in 2016.
Several countries have boycotted this year’s event over the inclusion of Israel. They argue that Israel should be banned due to their military offensive against the people of Gaza. Russia is currently banned from Eurovision over their war against Ukraine. Iceland, Ireland, Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain have opted out. Spain has also announced they won’t broadcast the show either.

Australia’s commentary team will see drag star Courtney Act behind the microphone but this time round instead of Tony Armstrong she’s joined by Voyager front man Daniel Estrin. The West Australian band were Australia’s representative in 2022.
