Nominations are now open for the awards to acknowledge the outstanding contribution of individuals and groups in the gay and lesbian community.

Anyone can nominate or be nominated for an award. The categories include Best Community Group, Outstanding Contribution by an Individual or Couple, Best Entertainer, Best Gay or Gay Friendly Venue, Building Bridges With or Between Communities and the Freedom Centre Youth Award for a Group or Individual.

Nominations can be submitted online at Pride’s website (www.pridewa.asn.au) and will close on Friday the 7th of August. All submissions will then be put through a selection process by an independent panel of judges to determine the winner of each category which will be announced at the Pride WA Ball.

Want to be a part of the fabulous soiree? Tickets for The Pride WA Ball are on sale through the Pride Website (www.pridewa.asn.au) with an extra special earlybird rate of $140. On the night expect a mouth watering three course meal, champagne cocktails, beer, wine and soft drinks.

What Homecoming would be complete without a King or Queen of the ball, so dress to impress on the night. There will also be outstanding entertainment from The Hit Factory and OutDance with the official after party at Connections to dance until the late hours of the morning.

Tickets are also on sale for the Annual Quiz Night on Friday the 24th of July. Tables of 8 or 10 are available now and will sell out early. Hosted by OUTinPerth’s Zoe Carter and Mark Reid from the WA Aids Council, our quiz night is an event not to be missed. The Annual Quiz Night is Pride’s first big fundraiser for 2009 and will assist Pride in raising much needed funds for the upcoming festival which commences on the 18th of September.
