The musical version of the popular animated film was created by Director Julie Taymor  and has been thrilling audiences for eighteen years. Tis will be the first time it’s been seen in Perth.

James Thane, the show’s executive producer said they were excited to bring the show to Western Australia for the first time.

“We are thrilled to present Julie Taymor’s ground-breaking production in Perth for the very first time. Western Australian audiences packed out our last show ‘Mary Poppins’, and we expect they will be equally keen to see this Broadway smash.” Thane said.

Since opening on Broadway in New York in 1997 the show has been seen by more than 75 million people and it has been translated into seven different languages.

Alongside the Australian show it is currently still playing on Broadway, in London’s West End, as well as Hamburg, Madrid, Tokyo and Basel in Switzerland. There are also touring companies in the United States and Japan. The Australian version comes to Perth after an extended run in both Melbourne and Sydney.

The show features the songs created by Elton John and Tim Rice for the animated film as well as three additional songs penned for the stage musical.

Pre-sale tickets for the show begin Monday June 15th and general pubic sales are available from June 19th. Contact Ticketmaster for details.
