A record breaking crowds and number of floats is expected for tonight’s Pride Parade through the streets of Northbridge.

The parade will be lead, as is the tradition, by the Dykes on Bikes and will get underway at 8pm this evening. Organisers have not confirmed the final number but over 100 different business, community organisations and groups will be marching.

“We are extremely excited to announce that the Perth Pride parade will have over 100 entries this year!  Late additions are still coming in and we’re trying our best to accommodate, but are working within safety limits of the marshalling area.  The final number of entries and order will be announced on Saturday.” Pride President Jeremy Wray told OUTinPerth.

Among the floats will be a First Nations float, and the girl guides will be marching on their own for the first time- they’d previously teamed up with the Scouts. There will also be much loved favourites including The Freedom Centre, The Bears and the Gay and Lesbian Singers of WA.

The parade will travel across Francis Street, down Lake Street, along James Street, and up Williams St to the Horseshoe bridge. The official party for Pride WA will be held at Yagan Square.

Head down to Northbridge early to get  a good spot!
