Mugabe's 'We Are Not Gays' speech gets disco treatment

Robert Mugabe

Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe was making headlines last week for declaring ‘we are not gays’ while denouncing LGBT rights before the United Nations.

The soundbite from the man who has decried homosexuality as a “filthy disease” was skewered by a number of comedians and public figures, including US Democratic Presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton and comedian Conan O’Brien.

Ms Clinton made a rather dry jibe, telling US media “I’m guessing the LGBT activisits in prison in Zimbabwe would disagree with [Mugabe] if ever given a chance to have a platform.”

Late night host Conan O’Brien took a less political approach, smoothly remixing Mugabe’s exclamation into a disco track for the ages.
