“It’s a totally new repertoire we’re doing, it’s a mix of musical theatre, opera and a few surprise numbers.” Penny Shaw told OUTinPerth while taking a camping break down south ahead of the shows.

“When we do interviews people always ask us the same things, like how we met, why we decided to start Divalicious, so we thought we’d make it all about that,” said Shaw, “It’s a tale of friendship, rivalry and triumph.”

Shaw said the she and performing partner Fiona Cooper Smyth were overjoyed when they heard that after people attend their show they often head off to see a full opera show.

“It’s absolutely thrilling for us!” said Shaw, who shared that she’d recently gone to an opera show and met people who shared that the pair’s show Divalicious had been their stepping stone to the Opera.

With all new material in the new show Shaw said it makes it easy for people who loved last year’s show to return. She explains that there’s only a small part that was in the previous show, which is included for dramatic effect.

‘An Intimate Evening With Divalicious’ is on at Da Parel  speigeltent in the Perth Cultural Centre for Fringe World from January 24-27 at 6pm. Tickets available from www.fringeworld.com.au
