Popsicle Top Picks @ PFF 2010

On William will once again take the attitude out of fashion with Popsicle, a pop-up shop dedicated entirely to emerging WA designers. This year Popsicle appears in the Perth Cultural Centre outside PICA, housed in two refurbished shipping containers, complete with outdoor exhibition space. An amazing array of items from 11 designers and four publishing ventures will be on sale, with OUTinPerth stopping by On William’s HQ to discover the top picks of Popsicle 2010:

– Lonely 8-Bit Heroes have an array of fabric brooches on offer, all in a blinding colour clash of fun and daring. Add a dash of colour to your life from just $12. For the more adventurous and outrageous, polka dot gloves and chew toy printed leggings will also be on sale.

– Prufrock is edgy and disconcerting. Brainchild of Carton residency recipient Ellie Meyer, this label merges insect with human, marrying the vintage and macabre in a homage to all that is pinned and wriggling. Beetle brooches bound in human hair start from $72 with art-deco inspired hair necklaces at $129.

– Bo Ra is a sequin statement, a flash of fun for the hair. Think handmade headbands with bows and love hearts, customised vintage fabrics refashioned into beanies and instances of inspired appliqué, reworked bow broochs. The Jade Sequin Heart Brooch ($30) is girly yet bold while the Purple Sequin Headband ($30) is feminine through and through.

Be sure to check out these labels plus Little Gracie, Kiss Me Quick, White Square, Leah Tarlo and others when Popsicle opens outside PICA on September 9, closing September 15. www.onwilliam.com.au/popsicle

WIN! Thanks to OnWilliam we have a $50 Popsicle gift voucher to giveaway. All you have to do is email your name and a contact number to spm@www.outinperth.com before September 8. Good luck!
