Pride Dates Announced

Pride WA has announced the dates for this year’s Pride Festival. The festival will run for four weeks from Sunday October 16 to Saturday November 12. The theme for this year’s festival is For Our Community.

The annual Fair Day event will be on the weekend before the start of the festival on Saturday October 8, and the Parade in Northbridge will be a week after the festival ends on Saturday November 19.

The announcement of dates comes after a protracted negotiation with government agencies who have been hampered by the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting which is being held in late October. This year’s Pride Parade will be three weeks later than the 2010 event.

While there’s no official announcement yet on details of the Pride events to be held during the month, plenty of queer friendly performers will be in Perth during the Pride Festival including KD Lang, Dolly Parton and Taylor Dayne. All three of them previously announced dates that fall within the Pride celebration period.
