Project X – Thank you from the M Clinic

More than 400 guys have been through the M Clinic doors in our first six months of operation, suggesting the word is getting out there and that men are taking their sexual health seriously. It also shows amazing support for which we are extremely grateful. We would like to say a big thank you to the community and to welcome everyone to 2011.

And it is not only our clients that we extend our thanks. We are also very grateful to the many community groups and businesses that have promoted the M Clinic to their members and the wider community and who have supported us in so many generous ways.

The most recent example of support has come from Connections Nightclub donating the proceeds from the Mr Leather WA Competition to the M Clinic.

Our main goal at the M Clinic is to help reduce the prevalence of HIV and sexually transmissible infections (STIs) within our community. One of the best ways to achieve this is to test regularly.

The Clinic is located next to St John of God Hospital in West Leederville, and in addition to our friendly peer-based approach and limited free parking, we are working hard to reduce barriers that prevent people from testing.

We now have a nurse working 4 days per week – Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays – which means we can test at the clinic as well as through our pathology partner, Clinipath. We encourage people to come in for a test on these days.

We have two doctors on staff who have come on board specifically for sexual health only – one working on Tuesdays from9am to 1pm and the other on Fridays from 10am to 2pm. Understandably, the doctors are always very busy and are only available by appointment. So if you have symptoms relating to a sexually transmissible infection, please call before you come in on 9380 9422.

Thanks again from the M Clinic team and we look forward to working with the community in 2011 and extend a warm welcome to all the guys out there who are into other guys to come in for a free test.
