Tabitha Takes Over

Tabitha Coffey is back with a new series of her popular show but instead of just taking over hair dressing salons she’s now giving her cutting advice to a whole range of businesses including dog kennels, bakeries, a yogurt shop and a gay dance bar.  Tune in to Arena on Tuesday, April 10 at 7.30pm for the new series.

The Voice

The Australian version of The Voice will launch on Sunday April 15. Delta Goodrem, Joel Madden, Seal and Keith Urban are the judges. The show is also launching in the UK where Black Eyed Peas front man Will.i.am is joining Sir Tom Jones, Jessie J and lead singer of The Script Danny O’Donoghue. Never mind the contestants, we just wonder what combination of judges will join up to try to replicate a Move Like Jagger hit moment

Offspring

The popular Channel 10 series documenting the adventures of the Proudman family returns on Wednesday April 18 for a third series. In this series Nina faces one of her biggest challenges when she discovers she may not be a Proudman, Jimmy adjusts to life as new Dad and Billie and Mick consider trying for a baby again.

Shameless

Season 8 of the original UK version of Shameless finally makes it way to SBS on Monday April 9 at 9:30pm. The series is a massive 22 episodes long and screened in the UK last year. In this series Frank goes missing just before his marriage to wife number three Libby, wife number one Monica returns , Carl celebrates his 21st birthday and Mini’s trans* sister makes an appearance. Hopefully SBS will go straight into season 9 that’s already screening overseas.

Return to Wentworth

Iconic Australian television series Prisoner is set to be remade for the new millennium. Foxtel have announced that they will present a reimagining of the Prisoner story beginning with central character Bea Smith’s early days in prison. The original series ran from 1979 to 1986 and featured a number of Sapphic storylines – which were quite provocative for the time.

New Gay Show from Glee Creator

Ryan Murphy, the creator of Glee, is making a new sitcom. The New Normal will be about a gay couple awaiting the birth of their first child via a surrogate. Justin Bartha (The Hangover) and Andrew Rannels, who has had success on Broadway in The Book of Mormon, are set to star. Veteran actress Ellen Barkin is also attached to the show alongside NeNe Leakes from the Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Dr Who companion joins The Carrie Diaries

Filming is underway on the Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries. British actor Freema Agyeman who has previously starred in Doctor Who as companion Martha Jones and has spent several years in the UK version of Law and Order has been spotted in a totally ‘80s get up filming the series in Manhattan. Agyeman plays Larissa who works for Interview magazine. Also in the cast is the very good looking Austen Butler playing Carrie’s love interest.
