Olivia Colman seemed genuinely surprised when her name was read out, the actress to to the stage promising to snog anyone she forgot to thank during her acceptance speech.

“OK. I have to thank lots of people. If by the way I forget anybody, I will find you later and give you a massive snog.” Colman said as she took to the stage.

Colman’s performance in The Favourite has been critically acclaimed but she took tough competition from Glenn Close for The Wife and Lady Gaga for A Star is Born.

The best film was a surprise result with Green Book  taking out the top honour. Best Director was won by Alfonso Cuarón for his film Roma.

Lady Gaga won her first Oscar for her song Shallow, during the ceremony she delivered an electrifying performance of the song alongside costar Bradley Cooper.
