The initiative will provide grants of $5,000 to three local filmmakers to produce a non-fiction short film that intersects in some way with the City of Vincent area.

The three creators will also be guided and mentored by Revelation’s Ashleigh Nicolau throughout the process, providing an opportunity to develop skills alongside an industry professional from start to finish.

The films will all screen as part of Revelation Perth International Film Festival’s 2020 program.

“We’re continually blown away by the high quality of all the works produced” says Festival Director Richard Sowada.

“These films are the real thing and their ability to circulate the international film festival scene in their own right is testament to the talent and the strength of the initiative.”

Filmmakers over the last two years have given the project a red-hot crack, producing works that are screening at film festivals around the country and learning the craft in a professional and collaborative context.

“Revelation is one of the few international film festivals in Australia, and certainly in WA, that support film production in such a direct and positive way through actually commissioning work” adds Sowada.

“It’s utterly unique and feeds directly into a positive and creative community and industry – that makes us very proud. We don’t just show great movies – we’re helping make them!”

Submissions open 23 August and close 1 November 2019. For more information head to revelationfilmfest.org
