Ric Trent – So Pretty

Let’s talk well-crafted dance tracks and catchy, light-hearted hooks. And who better to talk to then Ric Trent. Originally from Perth, Ric relocated to Melbourne four years ago and has since lit up the Melbourne dance floors with songs that are nothing but pure club joy.

Describe your show. Upbeat and excited. I used to dance in clubs in Perth. I find it quite easy to get down and boogie.

Where did you dance in Perth? We used to do podium dancing at o2 on the corner of Lake and James, and I think it’s now called the Church, but back then it was called the Lizard Lounge. It was a fashion/dance show that we used to do. We even did a show for the City of Perth. For that one, we had two drag queens. One was Antonella, but I don’t think she performs anymore, and the other one, she had a hilarious name, Tora Hymen – I think she hung up her wig about four years ago.

What do you miss most about Perth? The hot summer nights.

Favourite Aussie dance artists? Sneaky Sound System have been fantastic – they have really shown the way. I’m a huge fan of The Presets at the moment. I’ve also recently been really addicted to the Divinyls greatest hits. There songs are really catch, really well made.

If you had to dance to just one track? Alex Gaudino with Crystal Waters ‘Destination Calabria.’ Awesome song.

Final words on your tracks? Beyond sexy.
