Safe Sex Angels: Coming To A Venue Near You

Hey there guys and girls! Safe Sex Angels need you! We are in desperate need of cherubs whose dream it is to be an Angel… volunteer Safe Sex Angel that is.

Safe Sex Angels is the reinvigoration of the old Safe Sex Sluts Project which first hit the streets in 1996. After many years of walking the streets and standing under the odd street light or two, the sluts were retired and the angels took to wing, spreading the safe sex message for the WA AIDS Council.

To be able to provide such an amazing service we have relied on an amazing group of volunteers made up of guys and gals from all walks of life and sexual orientation. This allows us to interact with a diverse community. We are always on the lookout for more volunteers to join our crew of angels.

All our angels are volunteers and the outreach program’s primary aims are promoting safe sex practices and having an identifiable presence at events. This is achieved by interacting with the patrons at venues and handing out safe sex packs.

Originally, the service only operated out of gay and lesbian venues and only targeted gay and bisexual men. Now, we can be found intermingling at non-GLBTIQ venues and events thus being inclusive of the whole of community.

Along with our diverse target groups comes the diversity in events we attend as well, such as:
• themed nights at gay and lesbian venues and community groups social events,
• fundraising events held by community groups / university student bodies (UWA’s Red party etc.)
• Pride events/festival (Fairday / Pride parade / Pride party),
• selected events during arts and cultural festivals and
• dance parties.

So if you’re looking to give a bit back to the community and have a great time whilst doing so, drop us a line at waac@waaids.com or call us on 9482 0000.

Project X Team, WAAC.
