The Buzz in April

Ah, summer, where have you gone? If you find yourself lamenting the colder weather, get to V Festival on April 6 on the Esplanade for the last hurrah of the festival season with Smashing Pumpkins, Duran Duran and The Presets. Other, fingers crossed, outdoor offerings this month include Kate Miller-Heidke April 6 at The Quarry Amphitheatre, sultry butch songstress kd lang April 19 at Kings Park, and RTRFM’s In The Pines musical finale to the UWA Festival Films on April 20 at Somerville Auditorium, UWA. Note: Past In The Pines have featured such acts as John Butler Trio and the Panics before they were big, so get down and see the local talent while it’s still local.

Indoors this month, Celine Dion screeches (uh, I mean impresses us with her soprano abilities) April 4 at Members Equity Stadium. Matchbox 20 and the delectable Rob Thomas play Burswood Dome April 15, while Foo Fighters follow suit April 21. PNAU has generated a lot of buzz this summer, to find out why check out Amplifier April 23 or Metropolis Fremantle April 24. Other gigs to catch (instead of that horrible bug going around): Operator Please at the Bakery (April 8) and Abbe May at Fly By Night for an album launch (April 26). Looking ahead, get tickets for James Blunt (May 9) at Challenge Stadium.

To support some of Perth’s hot local acts, catch Nat Ripepi at the Broken Hill Hotel April 13 and 20, Brash and Sassy at Shape April 12, or Tomás Ford as part of Death Disco at Capital April 12.
