Totally Twisted: A Diva You Can't Miss

Tina Del Twist flounced on a bedspread FRINGE WORLD Festival 4-8 Feb High Res image by Stano MurinThe De Parel Speigeltent was brought alive last night by a beautiful and eclectic performance by Wes Snelling’s alter-ego, Tina Del Twist. Snelling’s award winning talent shines through in his embodiment of Del Twist, as she blends beautiful soulful melodies with lightning quick comedy.

Del Twist commands the arena with her mere presence, a stunning queen with an attitude; you can surely see why she has been called the love child of Dame Edna and Amy Winehouse. Shimmering with the glow of accessories, you cannot take your eyes off of Tina.

Her opening number was entrancing, I looked around to see a tent filled with mouths agape. Though my favourite number would have to have been Tina’s own twist on ‘Waltzing Matilda (Tina’s Waltz)’, a much cheekier version of the Aussie classic.

Her rendition of ‘White Rabbit’ was also superb, equal parts hypnotic and hilarious, Snelling is a master of blending comedy and music. A stellar performer, Tina Del Twist is a diva you cannot afford to miss this Fringe festival.

You can catch Tina Del Twist at the De Parel Spiegeltent in the Urban Orchard, Fri 6 – Sun 8 Feb. Tickets available from Fringeworld.com.au
