Towleroad.com: Top Gay Blog

Towleroad.com was named one of the five “It Blogs” in Newsweek’s July special double issue. The list of blogs featured the top blog in each of five key online categories as determined by independently reported page view statistics and then editorially selected as important for Newsweek readers.

Initially the personal blog of Andy Towle, a professional phototgrapher, published poet, and former national magazine editor, Towleroad gained a big audience from Andy’s comprehensive coverage of Brokeback Mountain. Joined by Out magazine founder and former Microsoft executive, Michael Goff, the Towleroad again doubled its readership in time to publish the first review of Dreamgirls anywhere online or off.

As top site in the Gay category, Towleroad.com is tapped to join four of the most accomplished blogs of all time: Openly-gay “Gossip” category-leader Perez Hilton, blog legend and Political #1 DailyKos.com, Sport’s leader Nick Denton’s Deadspin.com, and “Pets” category winner CuteOverload.com.

Other recent recognition for Towleroad has included breaking into the top 10 gay sites on every major ranking – one of the only without adult content or dating profiles. In addition, AOL’s Switched named Towleroad to its list of Best Blogs, and Andy Towle it’s founder was named to Out magazine’s Out 100, and chosen (with Perez Hilton and Defamer) as Advocate’s “person” of the year.

Towleroad is the must-read site for more gay men. It is 100% professionally produced and rated PG-13 (so, it’s safe to check at work!). Towleroad prides itself on being for the urban, media savvy gay audience who go to opening weekend, order top shelf, travel all the time and who somehow hold down rewarding jobs they love on top of it all.
