WAAC Tries New Positions

After nearly six years of service to WA AIDS Council and the community in general, Dr Simon Yam has resigned from his position to join his partner in their business. WAAC Executive Director, Trish Langdon, says he will be sorely missed.

In the wake of Dr Yam’s resignation WAAC have resolved to restructure positions within the organisation.

‘Simon’s resignation has provided an opportunity for the Council to re-assess its future needs and ensure the structure of the organisation will meet the changing needs of the community and the staff into the future,’ said Ms Langdon.

The Community Education and Prevention Services Department will be split into two departments.

Sally Rowell, the Positive Services Manager for the past eight years, will return to Community Education to manage the department after taking long service leave.

As a result, two managerial vacancies have been created in Positive Services and managing Gay Men’s Education and the Freedom Centre.

‘Both positions offer opportunities for innovation and creativity, varied and interesting work as well as great people to work with,’ said Ms Langdon.

For more details on the positions and for application details, see the advertisement in this issue of OUTinPerth.
