StyleAID 2007 Reflections: The Red Carpet

Some dressed up. Some dressed down. But by night’s end everyone was toasting to WA fashion. From WA’s biggest names to innovative up-and-comers, the catwalk at the 10th annual StyleAID was only half the night’s fashion. The other half was the glittering A-list set who donned their finest wares for a night of reflections… and freely flowing champers. On the night OUTinPerth caught up with…

‘I love the fashion. I’m such a girl. I love looking at the fashion and writing down the designers and seeing what we are going to be wearing next season, seeing all the new ideas and the creativity. Saying that, StyleAID always tries to make everybody dress lounge and it never works. All the fashionistas go over the top.’

Ann-Marie Carpenter

Ambassador of Perth Fashion and wife of WA Premier Alan Carpenter

‘It’s an amazing event and beautifully put together. I have been looking forward to seeing the best of WA’s designers and what they have coming up. There are so many up there that I love, I can’t choose a favourite. Since becoming Perth’s fashion ambassador, I’ve got to know quite a few of the designers and follow them in the last year. I’m just astounded and encouraged by what WA is putting out there and how competitive and how great we are in the world of fashion.’

Hon. Louise Pratt

MLC

‘I don’t think anyone in Perth has come up with a more fun way of raising money for such a worthwhile cause. [I have looked forward to the] chance to get frocked up and have fun with my friends while watching women in on the catwalk in their high heels – although some of them are far too skinny! It’s a great event for promoting local designers – many of whom have both a national and international profile now which brings a bit of glamour to Perth.’

Mark Reid

StyleAID organiser and Fundraising, Marketing & Events, Community Education & Prevention Services for the WA AIDS Council

‘After 10 months, when it is over is what I am looking forward to.’
