Rainbow Futures WA has a new home and need help to furnish the space

Rainbow Futures WA, the state’s peak body for LGBTIQA+ communities has announced they’ve got a new home.

The organisation is preparing to move into a property at 4 View Street in North Perth. The space will be familiar to many people in the LGBTIQA+ communities as it used to be counselling service Rainbow Community House.

Previously Rainbow Futures has space on ECU’s now closed Mount Lawley campus.

The space is envisaged to be a spot where community organisations can meet, especially those based outside the metropolitan area who need a working space when visiting Perth.

The group has put a call out to help them furnish the space and have published a wishlist of things they need, and their hoping community members will considering purchasing some of the items needed.

The building features a mural created by artist Sioux Tempest. The work features the six colours of the Pride flag, and abstract portraits of people from the local community.

Declaration: It’s a small world. OUTinPerth co-editor is a staff member at Edith Cowan University, while co-editor Leigh Andrew Hill has previously worked at Rainbow Community House.
