Kim Petras has shared a new song, Need for Speed is the Unholy singer’s latest offering.
The video is a commentary on societies need for people to be having constant success in an ‘always on’ world.
This is the third single from the album Detour that Petras will release independently on her own label.
Speaking about the track, Petras said that Need for Speed is about the “constant push for more hits and more success, which ultimately erases your personality until your only personality trait is being so busy and fast that you basically don’t have a life.”
She added that she wanted to “describe this feeling of being in a machine, but wanting to break out of it and feeling like you’ve become this monster version of yourself that isn’t able to let anyone in because there is nothing there except the need for going further and faster.”
Petras put out two albums in 2023. First came Feed the Beast which included collaborations with Banks, Nicki Minaj and her chart topping collaboration Unholy featuring Sam Smith was also added on as a bonus track. A few months alter she put out Problématique which was originally intended to be her debut.
After falling out with her record company, Petras is now releasing her music independently.
