Eurovision check-in: Australia’s Delta Goodrem through to Eurovision Final

Australia has made it through to the final of Eurovision 2026 after Delta Goodrem delivered a high-energy performance of her song Eclipse.

In the next stage of the competition, Australia will be one of 25 countries competing for the Eurovision Trophy in the Grand Final in Vienna, which will take place early on Sunday morning Australian time.

Goodrem’s performance saw her appearing in a gold dress before walking down the stage’s runway to a glittering gold piano. Later, she rose into the air on top of a giant pillar that emerged from the piano.

Goodrem’s performance showed off her decades of experience on stage, as she appeared relaxed and carefree despite the enormous pressure of the moment.

This year is Australia’s eleventh time participating in Eurovision, and in the last few years the country has failed to make it into the Grand Final.

Last year, Go-Jo did not impress audiences with his tune Milkshake Man, and in 2024 Electric Fields fell short with their song One Milkali (One Blood). Australia also did not qualify for the final in 2021 when it was represented by Montaigne, but the singer was disadvantaged by having to perform from home in Australia due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The semi-finals saw some countries’ Eurovision dreams come to an end. The first semi-final marked the end of the road for Portugal, Georgia, Montenegro, Estonia and San Marino.

The exclusion of San Marino was a surprise, as Senhit’s tune Superstar was quite a bop and also featured music icon Boy George in a guest spot.

The second semi-final saw the departure of Azerbaijan, Luxembourg, Armenia, Switzerland and Latvia.
