Maisi and the Disco just want to be Madonna

Maisi and the Disco have declared they just want to be Madonna with their latest single, a loving tribute to the pop icon.

The track is packed with references to Madonna songs including Like a Prayer, Dress You Up, Vogue, Holiday, Like a Virgin, Into the Groove, Papa Don’t Preach and Express Yourself, along with several more nods to the singer’s catalogue.

Most of all, they simply want to be like Madonna, referencing the “wannabees” nickname once given to some of the star’s earliest fans who copied her distinctive style.

Maisi and the Disco is the musical project of Maisie Harriet Brand Bourke. The British musician is the daughter of legendary comedian Jo Brand.

Alongside her music releases, she is also behind the regular club night The Cxnty School of Disco and is a co-founder of Loud LDN, a collective that aims to support and promote female and non-binary musicians across the UK music scene.
