LGBT Supporters Take to the Streets of New Delhi

Hundreds of people in support of gay rights have taken to the streets of New Delhi to campaign for further equality.

The marchers were protesting for a chance to lead a dignified life in the deeply conservative country. Despite the legalisation in 2009, homosexuality is still largely viewed as unacceptable.

Waving a 50 foot rainbow banner and placards through the streets, campaigners demanded that anti-discrimination laws be extended to workplaces and schools, as well as public and private spaces. 

With placards being written mostly in English, it’s suggested that the LGBT population of India are trying to reach a global audience with their campaign
