New Jersey To Ban Gay Conversion Therapy for Under 18s

Chris Christie-001New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is expected to sign off on legislation banning gay conversion therapy on minors in the US state. The move will make New Jersey the second state in America to ban the practice following California.

The legislation was passed back in June but the Republican Governor has been reluctant to sign the bill into law. It is expected he will note his concern about the government getting involved in the way people raise their children, but highlight the overwhelming expert advice.

The move to pass the legislation was revealed when media agency AAP obtained a copy of the planned announcement. Governor Christie is expected to say the he believes that homosexuality is not a choice, and that it is not a sin, a position the Catholic politician has previously shared.

Governor Christie is widely tipped to run in the 2016 US Presidential Election.
