Steps Star Faces Online Abuse

Ian Watkins Los-horzSteps singer Ian H Watkins has announced he will be taking a break from Facebook and Twitter after being bombarded by online abuse.

The mix up comes as Lost Prophets lead singer Ian Watkins, who shares the same name, pleaded guilty to attempted rape of a baby. Watkins case has revealed the singer had a huge collection of child pornography and a history of grooming children for sexual offenses.

The Steps singer’s Facebook page and Twitter account has been filled with abusive messages and people failed to make the distinction between the two singers.

E-News in the USA didn’t help the situation when they posted the wrong singers picture with their online news report. The TV channel has since apologised for the error and launched an investigation in how it occurred.

One Twitter user, @gazoantics made light of the situation posting, “Turns out H from Steps is also called Ian Watkins and is getting so much abuse on his Facebook. Tragedy”

Following the Lost Prophet’s singer’s guilty plea, one of Britain’s largest music retailers  HMV have removed all copies of the bands albums from sale.
