Thousands of celebrities have taken part in the challenge, including Ben Affleck, Kate Upton, Justin Bieber, Eva Longoria a pantsless James Franco and Lady Gaga, who dumped a bucket of ice over herself in our own fair city the night before her Perth Arena performance.

The challenge goes as follows: be filmed dumping a bucket of ice over your head or donate to the ALS Association, a US based organisation devoted to researching, raising awareness and supporting sufferers of amytrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease. The disease is neurodegenerative and is characterised by muscle spasticity, progressive weakness and difficulty speaking, swallowing and breathing.

Conchita Wurst was nominated for the challenge by tennis player Novak Djokovic. Check out the video to see the singer’s unique spin on the challenge and use the opportunity to bask in her adorable accent.

Will it catch on? We’ll keep an eye out on her nominees: Kylie Minogue, Jake Shears and Jean-Paul Gautier to find out.
