The new range includes an additional 32 flags, as well as same sex families and racially diverse options.

The emojis representing people are available in a default Simpsons-esque yellow. Users can choose the skin tone of the emoji by holding their finger down on the emoji of their choice.

According to Forbes, the six skin tones of the new emojis are based on the Fitzpatrick classification scale, which was developed in 1975 by dermatologist Thomas Fitzpatrick to assess how different skin tones react to UV rays.

Users can also select families with same sex parents and one or two children.
