IDAHoBIT: Marriage Equality Forum and social drinks with Tiernan Brady

Get involved in the marriage equality campaign with two very special events this week with special guest, National Director of The Equality Campaign Tiernan Brady.

On the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex & Transphobia (IDAHoBIT) day this Wednesday the 17th May, local advocacy group Rainbow Rights WA will be putting on a spread and inviting the community to come and chat with Brady about marriage equality with a focus on rainbow families here in our state.

Following on Thursday will be an open forum led by Brady and The Equality Campaign that looks to the future and poses the question; What’s next in the fight for marriage equality in Australia.

“Two-thirds of Australians, as well as a majority of politicians, want every Australian to be able to marry the person they love,” Brady said.

“The Equality Campaign works to empower local communities so they can be a part of creating this reform that will improve the lives of so many Australians.

“Perth is an important part of the marriage equality journey which is why it is so exciting to be holding this forum and having the opportunity to talk with the community.”

“The forum is a chance for everyone to ask questions big and small and to learn what is being done across the nation at a grassroots level to effect big change.”

“Along with our supporters, we will continue to show how marriage equality is simply based on our shared Australian values of a fair go and respect for all.

“It’s important that these values continue to underpin the ongoing conversation on marriage equality across the country,” Brady concluded.

Head down to Beaufort Local on Wednesday May 17th from 8pm for Cheers To Marriage Equality social drinks, or join the Perth Equality Forum this Thursday May 18th from 6:30pm at Curtin University Perth Campus (139 St Georges Tce)
