Tasmanian Police have charged two men over the assualt of gay man Daniel Stanley. Stanley recieved serious injuries after the two men allegedly attacked him in the early hours of the morning of Sunday June 22.

The ABC have reported that 23 year olds, Cory James Rowell and Glen Burr have been charged over the incident. Rowell was granted bail this morning after appearing in the Burnie Court via video link.

Police believe a Tasmanian man was assaulted because of his sexuality after two assailants left him with facial injuries and broken bones. Daniel Stanley, a 22 year old gay man from Ulverstone, near Davenport, in Tasmania was attacked by two men in the early hours of the morning of Sunday June 26.

Ulverstone police have stated that they believe the attack was motivated by Stanley’s homosexuality. Stanley was walking alone near the West Ulverstone caravan park after attending a function at the Turner Beach Football Club. Two men pulled up in a vehicle and assaulted him. He received medical treatment for a fractured elbow, broken arm and facial injuries including two black eyes. Ulverstone Police are searching for two men who they believe were also at the football function.

The offenders are described as;

Male, aged 23, between 165-170cm tall, athletic build, short light brown hair. Wearing a navy baseball
cap, dark blue T-shirt and jeans and dark coloured skate shoes.

The second offender is also male about 25 years old, 185cm tall, stocky build, natural short blonde hair. Wearing a plain white t-shirt, light blue jeans and white shoes.
