The film recounts Conley’s real-life experience with gay “conversion therapy”, and his relationship with his fundamentalist family and Baptist pastor father in Arkansas.

Directed and adapted for the screen by Edgerton, the film stars Lucas Hedges as Garrard – who is outed to his parents (Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe) and put under the watch of Victor Sykes (Edgerton), the head therapist of the conversion program.

The film also stars gay actors Xavier Dolan and Troye Sivan as fellow ‘patients’, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bassist Flea as Brandon.

Check out the trailer below. Boy Erased is due for release this November.
