Edgerton plays the famed musician in the upcoming film which charts his journey from the Royal Academy of Music to becoming a global superstar in the 1970s.

Edgerton, best known for his leading role in the Kingsman films, has nailed the singer’s iconic look with a gold jacket, shorts and humongous glasses.

Billy Elliot star Jamie Bell co-stars as Elton John’s longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin, while Richard Madden and Bryce Dallas Howard are also in the cast.

Rocketman is currently filming and is expected by released in 2019. It’s being directed by British actor Dexter Fletcher who starred in the TV series Press Gang and the film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

The film has been described as a musical fantasy rather than a straight forward bio-pic. In the film Edgerton will sing all the songs himself.

Sir Elton Hercules John has had a long and distinguished career. He was born Reginald Dwight and began his career as a piano player in a London pub before joining a band that was often used to back touring US artists.

In the late 1960’s he teamed up was lyricist Bernie Taupin and began writing songs for artists including Lulu and Roger Cook. He also worked as a session musician, appearing on The Hollies massive hit He ‘Aint Heavy, He’s My Brother.

John’s debut album in 1969 was not a hit. His second album though found success with the single Your Song. He has gone on to record over 30 studio albums, multiple film soundtracks, musicals, and become one of the highest selling artists of all time.
