Midnite Youth Theatre Company are mounting a production that will play from 28 November through to 1 December.

This witty and wildly theatrical production brings together a talented ensemble of 18 to 25-year-old emerging performers from across Perth’s suburbs. The musical is packed full of much-loved songs including Children Will Listen, Agony and No One Is Alone.

Talented performers Aleisha Archer, Ellen Brookes, Erin Craddock, Adam Di Tullio, Grace Fermanis, Kyle Garces, Jackson Griggs, Hannah Jones, Euan MacMillan, Nic Millar, Cat Perez, Delia Price, Imogen Rabbitte, Joshua Towns, Nicholas Warrand, Charlotte Williams and Jessie Williams will take to the stage to bring to life the show about intersecting fairytales.

A baker and his wife, who cannot have a child due a curse on their home, head into the woods to find a list of things the local witch needs to break the spell, along the way they bump into all the other fairytale characters who have also headed into the woods. There’s a boy trying to sell his cow, a girl with ugly step sisters, a charming prince, a girl in a tower with long hair, and a young girl off to her grandmother’s house.

The show first debuted on Broadway in 1987, and over the years many famous actors have taken on the role of Witch. Bernadette Peters was the first to play the role, but Cleo Laine, Julia McKenzie and Vanessa Williams have also made the role their own. In the film version Meryl Streep took on the starring role.

The show will be on at the Studio Underground at State Theatre Centre of Western Australia, booking can be made via Perth Theatre Trust.
