Comedian Nicola Macri had an audience in a constant stream of laughs as she shared her thoughts about a wide range of topics from asexuality, horoscopes, language and cheese.

In fact, after seeing Macri’s performance I’m desperate to head to the supermarket and study the differences between certain types of cheeses, because Macri blew my mind, and also explained one of the great spousal disagreements of all time.

Her observations non how vagueness in language can lead to confusion and essential clarifications were intriguing and highlighted that we all see the world in a different way. While gay men have conquered the world of the double-entendre, Macri reminded us that for some a single meaning word can be equally confusing.

Hilariously Macri explained how staff at Lotto kiosks are constantly launching into an arm waving mime routine whenever anyone asks for a Lotto ticket for next Saturday because for half the population next Saturday, is this Saturday.

From start to finish the room was filled with giggles and guffaws. I suspect Macri may have been playing largely to a room of friends and supporters, who were completely on her wavelength. WHile the first few minutes were slightly clunky, Macri soon found her groove and was sharing observations at a spitfire rate.

Sections of the show which focused on explaining the realities of negotiating the world when you’re asexual were great to see, while a section on being ‘aromantic’, not to be confused with ‘a romantic’ or ‘aromatic’ was very funny.

Part of the performance does focus on making jokes about people who put their faith in horoscopes, and Macri noted that many of us actually have no time or interest in them. But if you are one of those people (like me) you will probably not get any of the jokes Geminis or Scorpios. It all went completely over my head.
