British boy band Union J are looking for a new member after George Shelly (third from left) quit the band.

Shelly made headlines in the UK earlier this year when he won the British version of the TV show ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’. Shortly afterwards the singer opened up about his bi-sexuality in an interview.

The foursome who came fourth in the 2012 series of ‘X Factor’ in the UK originally started as a trio called Triple J before the judges on the show suggested Shelley join as the fourth member.

The three other members of the band announced that Shelly would be leaving the band via an interview with the tabloid newspaper ‘The Sun‘.

The remaining members of the band said they’d booted Shelly out because he didn;t have enough commitment and was in a “different headspace”.

A spokesman for Shelly disputed the statement from the band and said he was “not a diva”.

‘It was a mutual decision for George to leave Union J so he could focus on his broadcasting and acting career.

‘He is an utterly charming and hard working individual – not a diva in the slightest.

‘The fact of the matter is that the other members of Union J are simply jealous he has achieved the start of an exciting new career and they have not.

‘George had agreed to be totally magnanimous towards them, but unfortunately, this has not been reciprocated.’

The remaining band members have announced they’ll look for a new person to join the band.

Shelley is not the only queer member of the band, band mate Jaymi Hemsley announced that he was “the gay one” in the band back in 2010.

The band have released two albums but have struggled to have hits outside of Europe.
