Dean Misdale is looking for some ‘Hot Stuff’

Perth drag performer Dean Misdale is heating up the dancefloor with a new disco release, Hot Stuff.

Misdale’s latest offering is a bold, high‑energy cover of the disco classic, originally made famous by Donna Summer. It’s a fresh take on the well‑known track, breathing new life into the party anthem.

“Disco has always been about joy, liberation and owning who you are,” Misdale said. “Hot Stuff is one of those songs that just makes people feel good instantly, and I wanted to capture that energy while putting my own spin on it.”

The release will be supported by live performances across Misdale’s touring shows and festival appearances, bringing the track directly to audiences in a high‑impact, live setting.

The song was originally released by the Queen of Disco in 1979 at the tail end of the disco craze. It was lifted from her seventh album Bad Girls and went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Rolling Stone has listed it among the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Australians loved the track, sending it to the very top of the charts.

In recent years Dean Misdale has tackled a succession of much loved party tunes, giving each one a new lease of life. Alongside their version of Kool and the Gang’s Celebration, they’ve also tackled Shocking Blue’s Venus, The Familys’ Nothing Compares 2 U, Dead or Alive’s You Spin Me Round (Like a Record), Wham’s Last Christmas, Cher’s Believe, CeCe Peniston’s Finally, Queen’s Another One Bites the Dust and many more.
