Now fans will get a chance to see him perform live when he plays a show at the Crown Theatre on 17th June.

Ocean was born Leslie Sebastian Charles in Trinidad and Tobago, his family moved to the United Kingdom when he was ten years old. His first records were released under his birth name, but he later changed to being known as Billy Ocean – taking his surname from the London estate that he lived on.

In 1976 he scored his first big hit with Love Really Hurts Without You but his biggest success came in 1984 with his fifth album Suddenly. It contained several hits including the title track, Caribbean Queen and Loverboy. Ocean was one of the artists who played Live Aid in 1985.

His 1986 album Love Zone brought more hits including They’ll Be Sad Songs to Make You Cry and When the Going Gets Tough (The Tough Get Going) which was featured in the blockbuster film Jewel of the Nile.

Ocean’s final big hit came in 1988 with Get Out of My Dreams,- Get Into My Car which saw him collaborating with songwriter / producer John ‘Mutt’ Lange.

Tickets to the show are on sale via Ticketmaster
