Speaking at the rally will be Equal Love’s Sam Cavallaro, Sally Rugg from GetUp, Greens MLC Alison Xamon, Labor’s Senator Louise Pratt, Anglican Minister Father Chris Bedding and transgender activist Jacqueline Blackburn.

The rally comes as in-fighting within the Liberal party escalates, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has called an emergency meeting on Monday afternoon so Liberal MPs can address the issue.

Several Liberal MPs have backed a parliamentary vote on the issue, supporting a private members bill from Western Australian senator Dean Smith, while conservative MPs are demanding the plebiscite policy the government took to the election be honoured.

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton has championed the idea of a non-binding non-compulsory postal plebiscite, a proposal that has been backed by the LNP in his home state of Queensland.

The rally will get underway at 1pm in the Murray Street Mall, all the information is posted on the group’s Facebook page.
